motoprint news 28 May 09 World Superbikes at Kyalami 17 may 2009

Not much news on the historic front this month, unless you regard the petty and grubby machinations of FNone as historic. It never ceases to amaze me that supposedly rational news hacks gets themselves in a froth over every ‘crisis’ that threatens to ‘tear’ FNone apart. From the owners to the organisers to the journos, they are all a bunch of bloody posers in it for the money and to sell press releases, so where’s the ‘crisis’. Frankly, it’s all about as genuine as a political poster’s exhortation.

OK, so where was I? Actually, at the beginning of May at the old GP circuit in East London, me and about three others, watching the Historic Motorcycle Group doing two demo rides. Nice weather, no wind but no spectators either. No hope at this rate of saving the circuit, if there really was one, but a lovely day, and I was impressed with the rest of the competitors’ turnout. An all bike racing day, regional stuff but a high level of turnout and preparation. Old oilers spluttering around for two laps and then disappearing for the day are long gone!

Kyalami hosted world superbikes and supersports (better make those both a capital S) in mid-May. The less said the better about the Gauteng Motor Sports Company organisation, its catering?? arrangements, stand control ??, Computicket etc, as I am currently in discussion about getting my money back! However, the RACING was great.

I firmly believe in what Van Gogh said as he tried to flog his paintings ‘A picture is worth a thousand words.’ I have placed 23 photos in the members section for free download for members and all I would want to say is in the photos.

On the website itself are a further 158 stunning images from both the Superbike and Supersport races, including some informal shots of riders you may not be that familiar with.
