EXECULINE SPRINGBOK SERIES
Bright and early, this excellent news was announced at a small gathering on 10 September up in Gauteng (Transvaal to those involved in the original series).
It will be a four round series, as follows:
21 November – Aldo Scribante Classic Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
5 December – Execuline 9 Hour Retro Kyalami, Gauteng
30 January - combines with Execuline International at Zwartkops, Gauteng
6-7 February – Execuline Cape Town Historic Killarney, Western Cape
Here is all the info for the Kyalami Execuline 9 Hour retro on 5 December:
Sports racing cars
Class A over 2 000 cm
Class B 1 150 to 2 000 cm
Class C up to 1 150 cm
Sports and GT cars and saloon cars
Class D over 2 000 cm
Class E 1 300 to 2 000 cm
Class F up to 1 300 cm
All the events have already attracted sponsors and will run as follows:
Aucor pre-1966 saloon cars in 2 x 8 lap sprint races
Lazarus Motor Company pre-1966 sports and GT cars in 2 x 8 lap sprint races
Automate pre1977 touring cars in 2 x 8 lap sprint races
Midas pre-1974 sports and GT cars in 2 x 8 lap sprint races
Sabat post 1973/pre 1984 saloons and sports and GT cars in 1 hour endurance race
Execuline Springbok Series 3 hour for pre-1974 cars
Historic Motorcycle Group demonstration of 6 laps
The endurance races are no longer relay events, so expect fuel stops, driver changes and pit work dramas. An index of performance award will be made. The sprint races will run in classes per Historic Racing Car Register rules while the endurance races will adopt a capacity and age-based class structure, based around the original 9 Hour regs.
